Zu den zusätzlich eingebundenen Datenquellen zählen unter anderem MEDLINE, die Datenbank der US-amerikanischen National Library of Medicine, oder AGRICOLA der Katalog der US-amerikanischen National Agricultural Library und ein Fachausschnitt aus der Open-Access-Datenbank BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine). Das Portal nutzt eine indexbasierte Suchmaschine mit speziell entwickelter Suchtechnologie.
